Aversion to Salt today

Last night and today I have had an aversion to salt. And I generally crave salt a little bit. I’m guessing that means I overdid it on the Endurolytes caps, aka sodium, yesterday. This will take some experimenting to get it right.

I swallowed 9 caps and drank about 120 ounces of water, so that’s 6 – 20 ounce fill-ups of my aerobottle. 9 caps = 360mg sodium. I also had 1/4 teaspoon of salt in my custom honey gel mixture. Oh gosh, that was an extra 600mg sodium. That was my mistake!

I had a total of 960 mg sodium. I want to calculate it in terms of per bottle fill-up because that will be easier to repeat. So, 960/6 fillups = 160 mg of sodium per fillup.

Hmmm, dropping 1 NUUN table into each water bottle fill-up (as they recommend) might be too much. I will try just 1/2 NUUN tablet and see how that feels.

Oh, I also ate a very salty dinner last night containing 1000 mg sodium, so that might be a factor. I’m still going to start with 1/2 tablet NUUN per 20 ounce bottle.

I was wondering why taking in 160 per 20 ounce bottle seems too much, when I’m supposedly losing 1000 per liter. I found this article that talks about it:

Pretty cool how the human body works.

Here’s a comparison table of Endurolytes E-caps and NUUN:

Endurolytes, 1 capsule
Sodium (as Sodium Chloride) 40mg
Chloride (as Sodium Chloride) 60mg
Calcium (as Chelate) 50mg
Magnesium (as Chelate) 25mg
Potassium (as Chelate) 25mg
Vitamin B-6 (as Pyridoxine HCL) 6.6mg
Manganese (as Chelate) 1.6mg
L-Tyrosine 50mg

NUUN, 1 tablet
Sodium (carbonates) 360.0mg
Potassium (bicarbonate) 100.0mg
Calcium (carbonate) 12.5mg
Magnesium (sulfate) 25.0mg
Vitamin C 37.5mg
Vitamin B2 500mcg

ps - we're not anti-saltcaps if anyone is wondering. they have a time and place and you certainly look like you need them, but it's knowing how to use them that's the trick.
