Doing Pinehurst

I’ve decided to do Pinehurst. Here are my goals, in order of importance:

  1. Have fun!
  2. Beat my bike split from last year
  3. Have fun!

I’m not going to stress about trying to beat my overall race time from last year. I really smoked that race course last year! And, I doubt that I can come in 5th like I did last year. There are alot of fast chicks signed up for this race!

My race strategy is to go as hard as I can in the swim and bike (like I did for Lake Norman). I plan on turning off my stopwatch for the run and just do the best I can not worrying about the time. And, I’ll play chase the rabbit. I usually just keep looking at my watch during the run to try and keep up with my own personal pace goal. Whenever I see a woman pass I think I can’t catch her because she’s way too fast for me. This time I will pretend she’s a rabbit and I will try to catch her. (That’s what I did at the 2006 Rock-n-Roll 1/2 marathon race, and it worked very well!)
