Not liking the Prednisone (for the spider bite) any more. I can’t sleep with all this energy! Wish I could stop taking it, but that’s one of those Rx’s you can’t just stop.
This week I did three hard Spinervals workouts and two hard treadmill workouts. My legs are pretty toasted. I feel I need a day off today. However, I also feel I should do another hard workout. There’s another reason I’ve been doing really hard stuff this week, besides having a ton of energy from my Rx.
Everyone in my family has this horrible cold/sore throat/cough. Especially my husband, who has been real sick for a couple weeks. I have this theory that increasing your core body temperature during a really hard workout will kill sick germs before they can get you. Every time I feel a sickness coming on, I do a really hard workout to get my core body temperature up. So far it has worked! I really haven’t been sick since becoming a triathlete (knock, knock).
I am with you on the working out to avoid sickness observation. A couple of weeks ago my 2-year old son got a stomach bug and gave it to my wife and his grandparents. They all were throwing up for 24 hours. I miraculously did not get it and the only thing I do different is work out. There may be something to that.
Hi! I’m serendipity on BT. I’ve seen you around there. Back in September your blog was my inspiration to start training for my first tri. I’ve got one planned for June. Anyway, I’ve been on Prednisone and know exactly what you mean. Once I scrubbed the kitchen floor at 2 am because I couldn’t settle down and sleep. It’s great stuff if you have housework to catch up on.
Hope you are feeling better….My problem is not energy,,,,just not sleeping.
I know how you feel. I’ve taken high doses of prednisone off and on for years–it makes me totally hyper. One time I woke up at 3:30 a.m. and cleaned the garage. Before work. Take advantage while you can!
First coffee, then exercise, now predisone? No wonder why you have sooo much energy! BTW, is this part of your gene pool? Have you passed it on to your children? As for me, it is hereditary… Being active is a major factor to my overall self-esteem. It’s the best Rx that money can offer, right?
