I am so Lucky: I won a tri bike!

This must be my lucky year. I just won a brand new tri bike. I didn’t think I’d be able to get a tri bike until all my kids are out of college (which isn’t going to be for 8 more years!)

I recently rejoined http://www.Beginnertriathlete.com (BT), which is an awesome community of triathletes! I have been logging all the mundane details of my workouts there.

During the month of July, BT was having a contest: Upload a video to your BT profile, and then submit it, then you are entered into a random drawing to win a Valdora AC-TRI Aero bike.

AND I WON!!!!!!!!

From a frame material and quality of components point of view, it’s comparable to my current bike, which is a Specialized Dolce Elite. The Dolce is a great bike, and, as you know if you are a regular blog reader, I LOVE MY SWEET DOLCE! However, the Valdora has the aerodynamic frame shape (free speed), the tri specific geometry (better running off the bike), and DuraAce bar-end shifters (Yeah!). I can’t wait to get it!

One thing, tho, is that I feel a little sad, like I am “cheating” on my current bike, by getting this new one. Am I totally weird?

PS: had a great bike ride today, got the saddle to a good spot. Also, had some great runs on the treadmill, which I have resurrected. I’ll write more about this stuff later.

Here’s a picture of the Valdora…

  • Tracy...thanks for the kind words. Sorry, I love my bike too much to give it away. I have been thinking of it all wrong. I've been thinking of it like a spouse, and I am betraying my bike by getting another one. But I think it's more like a child. I am just getting a second child. Do I need a straight jacket, or what?

  • congrats hard work does pay off!! I have been following your blog and you keep inspiring me to work hard even when I feel like doing nothing. You deserve the bike, you work hard and inspire us all to work hard. Now can I have your old bike????? JKidding

  • Simply. Awesome.

Congratulations! Enjoy your new bike, which will surely come with a new saddle for you to fiddle with for a month!

  • Carol, I've been reading your blog for about a year but never commented before. I've used a few of your tips and tricks and find solace in knowing we share some experiences from time to time (saddle sores, pose running, runny noses, etc.) When I saw this post, I HAD to post a comment. I'm on BT too and love it. I almost submitted a video for this very same contest, but ran out of time. Congratulations on winning the bike! It's a beauty. :)
