I won first place age group at White Lake!!!!!!!!

I just got back home from the White Lake Sprint 2008 event. I won my age group!!! I stuck to my plan to just relax and have fun, don’t look at my stopwatch, and try to pass people. And it worked! My time was 1:25

The highlight of my day was standing on the podium to get my award (see plaque below).

The second best part of the day was when a blog reader named Ann introduced herself and said how much she is inspired by my words. Thank YOU, Ann – and congrats on winning 2nd place mixed relay!

To top it off – and you won’t believe this – “Walk this Way” came on my mp3 player on the way home. I had it on “random shuffle, all tracks”…what are the odds that THAT song would play out of 1128 songs???

I’ll write a full race report later…

  • Thanks everyone for the kudos.

Ann: It was great meeting you. It meant alot to me that you introduced yourself and that you appreciate my blog writings. I work hard on trying to think of stuff that will help others learn from my experience.

Wilmington is a fun race - I'm sure you'll do great and have fun. It was my favorite swim venue. Any your swim time is already fast!

I'm not sure what it means that my bike splits aren't showing. I guess I must have hopped over the timing mat in such a way that my chip didn't get detected. I see quite a few people with missing bike splits, so it must be a common thing. Too bad - I don't know if I made my 40 minute bike split goal or not. I guess I don't really care since I got a prize :-)

    Happy workouts, Carol

  • Congrats on a job well done and I know the amount of hard work you have done with your training.

  • You are awesome!!!! Congratulations again on your first first place!!! This is Ann, I can't believe my family and I were standing right next to you talking with you and I didn't realize who you were until they called your name. You got me motivated to do this and always have good advice. I forgot to mention yesterday that I read the book Triathlon 101 and it was great. Very easy to read and got me real excited about Triathlons. Doing a relay was a great way to observe and learn. Can't wait to do my own in September at Wrightsville Beach and then who knows what will come from that. By the way, what does it mean when a time is missing from one of the legs of the race? Thanks for sharing all your stories - Ann

  • Congrats Carol! You are absolutely fierce! I had a great time this weekend, thanks for inviting me.
