The foot pain is gone, and the knee is feeling alot better. I went out for a six mile run and felt like my running stride was mostly back to normal. My knee hurt after running, but felt okay this morning. No foot pain at all. I’m glad to be able to run again, because running is the quickest and easiest way to get in a much needed mood-boosting workout.
Oh, I almost forgot to blog this story: It started to get dark half way thru my run last night. I like to run on the shoulder of the road whenever possible. Running on dirt is less wear and tear on the joints; but there’s more risk of tripping over a root or rock. Last night I tripped on something (too dark to see), fell on some soft grass, then did a shoulder roll. I popped right back up and started to run again. I was happy for the soft grass, and felt like a pro stunt double 🙂
I do wear a halogen lamp on my belt when running at night, but it only goes so far in preventing falls. I’m more careful in my prime triathlon season about where I run, because I don’t want a twisted ankle (or banged up knee) to ruin my race plans. But in the off season, I like running on rugged terrain because I feel like a little kid playing in the woods. Oh, speaking of running thru the woods, I signed up for a 9 mile trail run on Jan 13th.
Going out for a bike ride now – it’s sunny and 64 degrees today.
