Today (Sunday), I went to do my track workout. After warming up for 1 mile, I tried to sprint 200m to get my legs moving fast. I couldn’t do it. My legs are just too dead, and everything is tight. I have not been stretching…oops!
I will swap today’s workout with tomorrow’s day off.
Here’s what I’ve done lately that have made my legs so dead:
Saturday: I rode 75 miles on my bike. I did it as an “E3” ride, meaning stay in zones 1-3. Stay seated up hills to work on hip power. I think it helped to focus on my hips while going up hills – it felt like a more powerful stroke. My hips are really sore today! My pace was 15.2 mph (as compared to 14.4 mph last time I did a long bike and kept the pace very easy). And of course, my bike routes are always hilly (much like Duke’s half route).
Friday: I ran 6 miles, cruise intervals, in the am. Then I did 30 minutes worth of a spinnervals dvd on my bike in the pm.
Thursday: I did a brick workout where I rode my bike for 30 miles, and ran 3 miles worth of cruise intervals. I was supposed to do 6 miles, but stopped due to heat, so moved that workout to Friday.
This is my peak training period, so my workouts have been hard and frequent!
You got to work hard, you got to work hard, if you want anything at all.

I don’t usually post comments, but I thought it was funny that I was listening to Depeche Mode while reading your DM quote. Thanks for being one of the few female triathlon blogers!
