I joined a Master’s swim team 2 weeks ago. I have been to six practices so far.
First of all, I can’t believe how incorrect I have been swimming. The way I was taught 20 years ago is all wrong. I feel like a total newbie swimmer learning a new stroke (even thought it’s crawl, it feels like a new stroke to me).
Secondly, it’s a lot more fun to swim in a team than by yourself. When swimming by myself, I’d do laps for 30 minutes then get bored and say to myself that I’d done enough. Now I swim for the whole 1 hour practice and time just whizzes by.
We did a timed 100 meter swim today. My time was 1:52. I was extremely happy with that time. Before, the best I could swim 25 meters was 35 seconds. 😀
I am back reading your blogs – great stuff. I just was told by a friend yesterday that I am swimming wrong. Your blog doesn’t tell how they “fixed” your stroke. What did they do?
