I am so excited, I had my first triathlon dream. I’ve read about athletes having dreams about upcoming races, but it just never happened to me. Until now.
The dream was about the Rev 3 Tri half iron race, which is my first ‘A’ race of the 2009 season. I am doing the race as part of Team Trakkers 2009.
In my dream, I got lost out on the bike course. I was in a quaint hillside village…riding up and down a steep cobblestone road that wound it’s way between old brick buildings. Very picturesque, but very hard terrain for a bike race! I rode around and around looking for my way back to the race course. I finally found some other athletes and followed them. They were riding soooo slow! That ticked me off, but I had no choice but to follow them. Then – they stopped for a snack at a little coffee shop! In the middle of a race! Can you believe it?! That was the end of my dream. I think if that happened in real life, it would be the end of my race too. Just give me a Venti Latte!
I’m not sure what this dream means. I am NOT at all afraid of the hills at Rev3Tri. I am looking forward to those hills. I am training well for the climbs (more about that in a later post). I am really excited about the descents (I love to ride FAST). I don’t know why I would dream about having problems out on the bike course. I am a little worried my pace will be slower than other races I have done. I am a little worried that my latest saddle issues are negatively impacting my training. I am not overly stressed about anything tho. Life is good.
Probably the dream doesn’t mean anything, other than that I am thinking alot about the race and looking forward to it 🙂
I had a lot of dreams like this … one time I couldn’t find my bike in transition and walked around for 2 hours looking for it. (Like there’d be any bikes left!) Another time I was late for a race and just jumped on the bike. Weird stuff!
You know this dream could turn out to be a reality…
I just drove by the race site this weekend. Trust me, no cobblestones. 🙂
You’ll be just fine. Descents are THE BEST!
I have stressful triathlon/racing dreams all the time!! If anything they give me confidence because I know real life could never be as crazy or bad as my dreams!
