I need a new aero helmet and I am hoping some company sees this post and offers to send me one to review…because I can’t afford to buy one.
I am 99% sure that my headaches are due to my aero helmet being too tight. It’s just a little too snug around my temples, and that sets off terrible headaches when I’m on the bike course of a race. I got an excruciating headache at Bandits. It went away as soon as I took off the helmet. I fiddled with the fit and put thinner pads in. Still, I got the headache again during the Duke bike ride, but it wasn’t too painful. Thank goodness for that. But, like Bandits, the headache immediately went away as soon as I took the helmet off. I really don’t want to wear that helmet for 6+ hours at Beach2Battleship!
My aero helmet is a Loius Garneau Rocket Air, size medium. I bought it last year. It only bothers me on longer races. Sprint races I am fine.
Anyone got a helmet for me? Free, Cheap, Trade?? 🙂

I was having trouble with headaches on 20+ mile bike rides. I figured out that it was the barrettes/bobby pins I would have in my hair to keep it under my swim cap. The pressure from the helmet on them (even though they seemed so insignificant) was causing pretty intense pain & removing them solved the problem. If you don't have anything in your hair under your helmet (braids included), then the helmet is too tight.
Congrats on your race and kick ass in the ironman!!
My friend Joan uses the Rudy Project Syton OPEN Helmet - They have the sunglass helmet deal going on and you can get this one with the upgrade. Maybe you could contact them and they would let you demo one??
I can't help you get a helmet, but I can help give a helmet a good home if some company sees this and is nice enough to give you two. ;-)
OHHHH and a TT bike, Size 54-56, you forgot to add that part. I am glad I was here to help remind you. Might be to big for you, you know bike fit is essential, I would be a sport and take that off your hands for you.
