A blog buddy named Chary told me about a neat underwater camera you can get on Amazon for about 100 bucks. (plus $25+ for a 2 GB SD card). I ordered it on Friday and it came today.
It’s a really nifty camera that can not only take underwater videos, but is also rugged and heat proof. It’s actually made for firefighters and comes with a strap to attach it to a helmet. It also comes with a handlebar attachment, so I’ll be able to get my llama friend on film 🙂
I took it to the pool and experimented with it. I tried setting it up underwater by attaching it to the lane lines and various other things. Nothing worked – I need to get a friend to come swimming with me to aim the camera underwater. I can’t wait!
Here’s the footage I got today by setting the camera up on the deck while I swam 4×100 at a moderate pace. I cropped out all but the turns at the wall, to make the video shorter. You can’t really see much out at this angle, but here it is anyway, what the heck!
