I had every intention to do the P90x Ab Ripper workout today. It’s only 16 minutes long, so I should have been able to fit it in. But, it didn’t happen today. I got up at 5:45 am to swim, had a really busy day at work. Then once I got home, I got tied up with Mommy duties.
I am super sore right now Even though I felt like I was slacking off yesterday during the Chest and Back workout, I am feeling it now.
In other news, I found a coached swimming group at my local pool. The coach’s philosophy is that I shoudl be swimming all four strokes, to challenge all the muscles of my body. That will make me a better swimmer all around, and thus better at freestyle. He made me do Butterfly. Man that was frickin hard. Especially with these sore arms! I am skeptical of his philosophy, but it was fun and makes me excited to go to the pool again. That can only be a good thing.
Tomorrow, I promise myself that I will do Ab Ripper and tell you all about it! There, now I have to!
I have been doing P90X for almost six months…it has become a religion with me. I MUST do it in the morning or else it just won’t fit in. After work there is running kids around, cooking dinner, grocery shopping, cleaning, etc. I found during my first several months that doing Ab Ripper after Legs/Back was more difficult than doing it after any of the other strength training sessions in the program. Unless your legs are really strong, you might want to go easy on the amount of weight you use during the “leg” portion of legs and back else the same thing could happen to you. Or, just fight through it!
Gotta agree with Ginger (and the coach). I swam for years, including all through high school and college and even the distance folk (the 500+ in competition crowd) who never do anything but free in competition did all four for practice.
The coach is right, do all 4 strokes!
