I got third place overall female at the Washington Summer Festival tri. My time was about 1:32. I’ll write more later…for now all I can say is everything went well! And – what a great race venue, perfect weather, and fun people. Here is a link to my race photos.
A young woman (20-25 AG?) came up to me after the race and that said I looked really strong during the race. I thanked her for the compliment and asked her about her race. Turns out, this was her first triathlon ever. She was so cute – and she even won a prize in her age group. Way to go!
I was dead last in my age group at my first triathlon, Riverwood 2005, and I even stopped during the run to fix my hair – LOL! Still…I was a winner in that race, because everyone who crosses the finish line in a triathlon is a winner! 🙂
Oh, and I did NOT get attacked by a shark today, despite the fact that I was basically shark bait – PHEW! Before leaving for the race, I put New Skin liquid bandage on my knee. I applied another coat right before the race. I also removed my silver toenail polish – didn’t want my toes to look like little fishies!
Hi Carol, I had similar fears about becoming a snack for a big fish one day. However, three months ago I went diving and recognized how empty the big blue sea actually is. This changed my perspective from a “potential bite” to an “admiring spectator”. Well done with your race!
Nice finish !
I am sure it was fun !
Way to make your way onto the overall podium! 3rd overall is awesome, congrats.
