Just a quick update…wish I had more time to talk to my blog!

Biking (my favorite!): I went on a short bike ride saturday. I would have gone longer, but wanted to see my daugther play in her last basketball game, so I opted to cut my ride short. I rode at a tempo pace for 25 miles and averaged 17.1 mph. It was windy, too. The best pace I’ve ever gotten in training is 18mph. Considering my extra 10 pounds, that’s a decent pace. My odometer says 3158.5.

Swimming: My IT band definitely got tight after doing some hard swim kicking. A tight IT band really screws up my running, so I’ve backed off on the kicking. I’m still doing more kicking than before, but I’m just going to ease into it a little at a time and try to find a good balance between kicking harder without messing up my right leg.

Running: I went for a 13.2 mile run Sunday. It took me 2:43. That seems really slow…how did I ever run a 1/2 marathon in 2 hours, and how can I ever qualify for Boston? Also, last time I ran 6 miles, I couldn’t beat 1 hour. I just looked back at my journals, and have done that same run in 58 minutes. Crap, those 10 pounds have really hurt my running. I’ve been working hard on improving my run cadence and my running form all winter. I don’t think it’s gained me anything in the speed department. I’ll never place in the top 3 at a race unless I can figure out how to run faster 🙁
