When I was a little girl, I used to take the burnt matches out of the ashtray in the living room, and suck on them. I have no idea why. My Mom tells me she figured I was missing something in my diet so she started giving me vitamins after that.

Thanks for nice words, considering training I have been in shape before and I know what u mean that flu is almost non existent when training is regular and in good pace. But the problem is I can seem to get back in that shape in the first place. I’ve been to the doctor, got my various tests done and all came back good to very good. So no sign of problem, yet there it is…
As per frequency, I had ran 3x a week and that had me run down terribly, it wasn’t a really high frequency or intensity. I’m at a loss for explanation… Anyway thanks for giving it some thought, keep going strong! 😀

Cute name! Congratulations on your commitment to get back into shape!
My experience with triathlon training has been the opposite. I hardly ever get sick any more. And I used to get at least 1 bad cold or flu a year. A friend told me his theory is that when you do intense workouts – you are heating your core body the way a fever heats your body. That heat kills germs, so the germs never get a chance to make you sick.
Maybe you are trying to do too much too fast. Are you following the 10% rule – only increase your training volume by 10% per week? You should also be taking one day per week completely off training, and every third week should be easier to give your body some rest.
You might want to visit your doctor if you keep getting sick just to be on the safe side!

I have stumbled upon ur blog just by chance while I was looking for some information regarding pulse metering, heart rate monitoring and similar. I just wanted to say I can feel ur pain about having a bad week. I am also trying to get back in shape after a few years off training, and I am constantly getting sick, like a flu, every couple of weeks. It makes me wonder is banging my head against a wall more productive. Why? Because just when I start to get my endurance back, I get sick, then have to lay off for a week or so in order for it to pass. Then I train again and in a few weeks it is back. It is driving me crazy, and I cant imagine how could I train with a much stronger tempo and schedule a few years ago. Do u have any insight as to why is this happening, did u have any similar expiriences?
