Swimming Tip of the Week: Breaststroke Drill: 2 Kick 1 pull

Swimming Tips by Coach Ian Lee of =http://www.thatswimteam.org]THAT Masters Swim Team.

Breaststroke: 2 Kick 1 pull

This drill allows you to work on your kick and your streamline.
    1. Always streamline
    2. Take 1 breaststroke pull.
    3. End your pull with your head down in a tight streamline.
    4. Then take 2 kicks.
    5. Each kick should be its own distinct action.
    6. Arms focus on head down and tight streamline reducing resistance.
    7. Kick, many things to focus on. I tend to coach a very flyish breaststroke with compact kicks and arms.
    8. Kick knees should stay inside hips.
    9. Feet turned out.
    10. Whip like motion with great foot acceleration.
    11. Rear comes out of water as feet push together and down.
    12. Feet end below hips
    13. Up sweep of feet as hips drop, like back half of butterfly kick.
    14. Feet recover into rear preparing for new kick.
