It’s the little things that make squeezing in workouts a little bit easier.
I’ve been meaning to do this for weeks, and finally went to Walgreen’s at lunch yesterday. I bought an extra set of makeup to keep in my gear bag. That is just one less thing to think about when I pack up for my early morning swims or my lunchtime runs. (Do you like my Beach2Battleship Gear bag?)
Another thing I was thinking of is to pack a separate gear bag for running and swimming, because I need different things for those days. Then I guess I would leave my extra make-up kit at work. Hmmm, yeah, I like that.
I also have been leaving my bike shoes, riser block and trainer in my car for the Tuesday evening spin classes at Inside Out Sports. That way I only need to pack my bike and clothing on those days. But my husband keeps taking my trainer and riser block to use them. Grrrr. I just need tell him he has to put them back in my car because they are mine and that’s where I keep them!
My swim bag is from a dive store, a mesh barrel bag that has all of my swim toys in it plus a ziplock bag with a bunch of swim workouts, two swimsuits, two caps, two pair of goggles (a gal likes to have choices!). And a plastic bag with shampoo etc. Usually this bag lives in the trunk of my car.
Bike bag is separate, with a ziplock full of nutrition, one with skin care and then extra tube, clothing etc that live in there. In season this one lives in the trunk too, I just pull out the shoes and helmet after each ride to air out and not stink up the car. (oh and ALWAYS a big plastic bag for the wet-postride clothing). And before each ride I put in a wet washcloth with some Bath and Body soap on it in a small ziplock for postride.
Run bag is smaller, b/c I usually run from home. 🙂 But I have a separate one for that too.
Way to get on board Carol!! 😉 Heh heh….
hi! I found your blog randomly when I googled triathlon and blogs – you’re in Cary, I see – I’m in Chapel Hill and decided to do the Ramblin’ Rose sprint-tri here in October. It will be my first one and already, I think I’m hooked, just from the training! 🙂 So great to see women blogging! (esp about tri!)
Makes perfect sense. I pack 3 separate bags.. One for swim, one for bike, one for run. Then I just have to right bag, throw it in the car and i’m ready..Makes things a lot easier. Now just need to figure out way to carry enough h2o with me …
Aha! That makes so much sense to have 2 separate bags. Geeze I feel so dumb now. LOL! I hate doing a sweaty workout in the morning before work, then having to dig through it to get to my swim stuff if I forget to move it to the top of my gym bag. Two bags makes so much more sense (and you don’t have to lug all the gear around in one bag).
Yeah, a second set of makeup works really well; I started doing that a couple months ago. How many times do you forget mascara?
Still am addicted to your blog, Carol. As I train for my first 70.3, I occasionally dig back through some of your posts to look for ideas and inspiration. Keep up the good work and can’t wait to read about your upcoming races. 🙂
