I feel a lot better today! Which reminds me again of when I was pushing past that 4 mile mark. Back then I concluded that I wouldn’t worry too much about aches and pains in my body as long as they were gone by the next workout. Which for running, should be just every other day. I don’t think this old body can take running every day.
For some reason, this year, I have felt that I was invincible with regard to injuries and was really pushing hard on the running. I have been running almost every day. And, I have been bumping up my mileage too quickly. 22 miles -> 30 miles = 36% increase. Woah!
I have been lucky to come so far without major setbacks. Really lucky. Really really lucky. But that 15 mile run reminded me that I am not invincible and I have to play it smart.
Here’s a really old post I wrote about Running Injury Free. All that stuff still applies.
