You know you’re in the boonies when…the first prize for a charity raffle is a 12 Gauge Semi-Automatic shotgun!
Here’s the story: I was riding my bicycle today and stopped for water and a snack at a little gas station way out in the country. As I stood there eating my fig newton bar, I read the posters on the window. There was one for a charity raffle. Since I’m not exactly up on gun lingo, it took me a moment to figure out what the first prize was. Check out the pic I snapped with my cell phone camera…it says 12 Gauge Browning Semi-Automatic (Made in Belgium).

William...I'd love to see pictures of all those things! How interesting. Happy workouts, C
I read this blog in the morning before going out on my ride through rural Thailand. I thought of writing a Thai counterpoint to your blog. You know your in the Thailand countryside when... You have to dodge mangos (they're mighty slippery if you hit a rotting one), you cycle past 5 snakes in 40 km, multicolored lizards run along your bike for company, you can cycle faster than the ancient motorscooters you're passing, and you're surrounded by rice on both sides of the road :-)
I love your writing. Blessings - William
